The negative Calorie diet!

Eat all you want and lose weight! An attractive concept but it’s not true and we know it. What you put into your mouth is going to show on your hips and your health and we all know that for a fact!

But negative calorie foods are something which really stumped me! According to new research, there are foods which can actually make you lose weigh, every if you eat and eat and eat! These are called as negative calorie foods. I wasn’t really convinced that this diet would actually work. How earth will eat a lot of food make you lose weight?

Here’s how!
.When we eat food, our body has to work really hard to break down that food you ate at lunchtime into the basic components which can be used by simple body cells. As a result, our body expands energy to breakdown food everyday. That’s half the reason you feel drowsy after a heavy meal; you’re body is working overtime to digest and breakdown all that food. But according to researchers, several varieties of food contain their nutrients tightly bound inside themselves. That makes the body work double-hard to remove the nutrients from it. As a result you lose much more energy by simply eating negative calorie foods. So the more you eat, the larger the amount of weight loss!

Does it work?
I don’t know but it does make sense! Think about it! If foods like grapefruit and celery can make you lose weight, then half the world’s population would be thin and pretty! But that is not the case. So there are drawback and a few simple ones which pop into my head are-

1. Is it really possible to eat only negative calorie foods all day long? This reminds me of the ATKIN DIET which puts people on a complete protein diet. It’s really easy to start craving other varieties of food and that means eventually you are going to fall off the diet bandwagon.
2. Negative calorie foods are listed on several websites and till date, no matter, how many websites, I’ve gone through, I’ve found that every negative calorie food sounds uniformly tasteless. I cannot imagine eating only large amounts of apple, beet root, blueberries, broccoli, cantaloupe, cabbage, cranberry, carrot, grapefruit, cauliflower, honeydew, celery, lemon/lime, chicory, mango, hot chili, orange, papaya, garden cress, peach, garlic, pineapple, green bean, raspberry, lettuce, strawberry, onion, tomato, radish, tangerine, spinach, turnip, watermelon, cucumber, and zucchini. The thought is giving me the shivers.
3. Experts agree that when you digest food there are calories that are spent digesting food. This is called as the thermo-genic nature of food. However it’s really difficult to calculate exactly how much energy you spend while eating these foods and when.

I’m not going to lie to you. The diet sounds really attractive and its panders to every inveterate dieter’s deepest insecurities. The diet says that you can eat all you want to lose weight but that’s not going to be true. So eat sensibly and you’re more likely to be happy and healthy.
