Autism symptoms

Do you know autism is a life long disease? Do you know it ranges from persons to persons? Do you know what are the common autism symptoms and treatment?

All the factors such as genetic, traumatic factors, viral infection during the first trimester of pregnancy have been studied as the possible causes for autism.Autism symptoms and treatment may vary from individual to individual.

Early diagnosis of autistic symptoms and treatment is very important in helping the person. Most of the autistic children are normal in the initial months of growth. Usually autistic symptoms are diagnosed in an advanced age such as three or four years. They will be resistant to cuddling, or they may show signs of irritation in changing their routines or food habits. Like normal children they don’t show attachment to parents or responds to their calls. They will sit isolated engaged in repeated activities like playing with a part of a toy, or repeating previously heard word several times.

They are not demanding attention like normal kids do. This is often makes the parent to think that their child is very understanding and good. They won’t develop normal speaking skills as well. Diagnosis is very important in the autism symptom’s treatment.

There should not be any confusion regarding the diagnosis as this may result in inappropriate and ineffective autism symptom’s treatment. As many children with autism are associated with secondary psychological and neurological disorders, a proper diagnosis of this should be encountered along with autism symptom’s treatment. As autism symptom’s treatment, programs based on behavior based programs are practiced.

These patients show one-sided or narrow minded approach in conversation with others. They can not understand jokes, or inside meanings of common language. They will continue conversation even if the second person is not interested.

Asperger disease individuals are quite rigid and emotionless. The cause for Asperger syndrome is brain impairment and it has nothing to do with malnutrition or parental caring. Some preservatives in vaccines such as teratogens are also believed to cause symptoms.

The training of social skills will help this people to develop better social interaction skills To control anxiety and mood swings, medications will really help. Training for normal conversation will help them to a great extent in their social circles.

Training should be given to parents as well to practice inside home. Like any disorder condition, an early intervention is very important. Proper diagnosis, care and support from the family and society will help asperger syndrome patients to lead a better life.

Autistic traits

Usually certain behavior characteristics identify autism spectrum disorder (ASD). These traits may help the individuals to develop tastes in certain areas such as computer programming, mathematics, science etc.Usually they show marked memorization capacity on some patterns, series etc.

Autistics traits have developed only in a small amount of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).A 2007 study revealed that people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are capable of reading facial expressions, understanding stereotypes and reasoning. They have inability to predict the reactions or understand the intent, desires and needs of people around them. So they may sound rude or impolite in social interactions. Individuals with this disorder may show over trust on strangers because of their inability to understand people.Autistic children can develop friendships and social interaction by giving them social skill training. With training they can be made to understand social roles and social stereotypes in the society.

Increase awareness among parents and pediatricians helped to find out more and more cases of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).Many autism therapies help to treat the core areas of autism. They include applied behavioral training, pivotal response therapy, and training to parents and caretakers. There is a rise in the prevalence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This attributed research and improved diagnostic treatment for the patients.

Pervasive Development Disorder (PDD)

Pervasive development disorder (PDD) displays delay in development of some basic functions such as socialization and communication.

The most common pervasive development disorder (PDD) is

  • Autism
  • Rett syndrome
  • Childhood disintegrative disorder
  • Asperger syndrome.
  • Non specified pervasive development disorder (PDD-NOS).

Symptoms of pervasive development disorder (PDD)

Symptoms may include mainly communication problems.Inability or difficulty to using and understanding of language.Inability to relate people, objects and events.Lack of flexibility towards change in routines.Stereotypical and repeated body movements.

Types and degrees of pervasive development disorder (PDD).

Some children do not speak through out their life. Some others speak limited phrases or words. Some have relatively good language development. So symptoms and types will vary from individual to individual.
Other traits such as intelligence, memory skills also vary from child to child. Some children have some unusual memory skills. They can remember and understand some pattern of things. To understand these traits in autism kids is very important. By training these traits can be developed. Detection or diagnosis of pervasive diagnostic disorder (PDD) is very difficult. Usually even if you doubt your child to have any abnormalities most of the pediatricians will advice you to wait until the child develops.
There are limitations from the doctors side as well he can not simply label a child autistic just because of certain symptoms. Even he has to consider other things such as the attitude of parents towards an autistic kid.
There is no known cure for pervasive diagnostic disorder (PDD). Treatment is purely based on behavioral and social skill enhancement training.

Having autistic children!

Do you know what makes autistic children different other children?

Normally autism symptoms develop only after three years of age. In other words it is possible to diagnose a child for autistic symptoms only after 3 years.

Their inability to develop or understand social interacting skills makes the autistic children different. Autistic children are less interested in social stimuli; smile and they won’t look others or responds to the call of their name by the care taker or parents. As most of the autistic children refuse to speak, more often they manipulate interaction by touching other person’s hand.

3-5 year old autistic children are not likely to show social understanding, approaching others, imitate others, or take turns with others. They fail to recognize emotions and expressions. They may resist cuddling and holding acts by parents or care takers. They may not show any attachment either to parents or care takers. But some of them develop nonverbal skills to communicate with their care taker. It is commonly noted that autistic children play alone. This is because it is difficult for them to maintain and develop friendships. For them the quality of the friendship is important. Some children show violence or display of aggression at times. These tantrums are more common in children with language impairment.

Most of the autistic children fail to develop language skills. Their gestures are often merged with words. They have sameness or reluctance for change. They may not show fear for injuries or danger.
