You should know first that all white spots on the skin are not the signs of vitiligo. White patches will also develop due to Tinea versicolor, which is a type of fungus. These can develop in oily areas of skin such as upper chest, back, or upper arms or thighs, neck or face.

This condition of white spots on skin is treatable. It can be treated with skin creams, shampoos and lotions. It will take more than a year to get rid of white spots on skin developed by fungus.

So when you develop white spots on skin, don’t rush into any conclusion. What you have to do is to consult a good dermatologist and take his opinion. White spots on skin may range from the infamous vitiligo to minor fungal infections.

Do you know what causes vitiligo or white spots on skin? The cause is unknown. It is considered as an autoimmune disease. This happens because your own immune system, by mistake destroys the melanocytes, which is responsible for the color of your skin.

The treatment given for vitiligo is only for cosmetic purpose. Treatment may help the skin to look better. Treatment may vary from person to person. It may include creams, oral medicines or surgical treatments.

So if you have white spots on skin, don’t worry. There is always a hope for better treatment. Understand better and live better.

I am very pleased to read that there will always a hope of better treatment.Because I visited some site of vitiligo a and recently a vitiligo siteclaimed that there is no known cause of it yet fully found and it is hard to cure. I could not realize why these co saying such, Perhaps for some commercial porpuse...
2nd thing I like that white spot might be due to the Tinea versicolor. this really valuable. so people shoul understand first that they have vitiligo or some other spots by the fungus infection.
